Legislative Visit Day a HIT

Today, the Texas chapter of HIMSS met at the state capital to call upon the legislature and solicit their support with key health initiatives in Texas. These include driving additional adoption of EMR software in Texas and understanding the incentives currently available, solidify and promote the HIE initiative in Texas and, bring attention to the HIMSS agenda overall. I was fortunate to personally participate in this event and was very impressed how warmly we were greeted by all of the staff members we met. Our goal was to meet with each of our assigned legislators, and give them some information about our agenda and we also invited the staff members to a forum that was held at the capital complex to hear more from experts. I really enjoyed sharing a very important message with the folks that we got to chat with and hope to be included again next year and to be a resource to the legislator’s offices that I spoke with.
